Jupiter Pinata

Recently, we concluded our Sky Science unit. At the beginning of the unit we decorated the classroom with paper mache planets. The students worked hard to construct and paint a designated planet. We also built the 8 moon phases, comets, meteors and constellations. Our classroom looked great with the planets hanging from the ceiling! The group of three girls who built Jupiter secretly filled their paper mache planet with candies – making it a pinata. They were able to keep this a secret for the two months of the Sky Science unit. To conclude the unit, we took Jupiter outside and “destroyed” our pinata; everyone was surprised to find candies inside Jupiter. The students had a throwing competition to see who got the candies that spilled from Jupiter. In the end, everyone shared the treats. Please watch our pinata being destroyed in the video below.
