This post is for Mr. Rankin’s class to comment on. We have read the first two chapters of the novel “Among the Hidden.” Make a prediction for what you think is going to happen next in the novel. In other words, once the forest is taken down and the new houses are built, how do you think this will affect Luke?
I love this book so far! I think that when the new houses come, there will a little girl about Luke’s age who sees him. I think she will be in the same situation as Luke. I also think she will want to come out of hiding risking her and Luke’s life. I think they will be seen and will need to hide more. Can’t wait to read it. William
I think that when the houses are built that luke will not be able to go out side.Also I think that he will have to stay away from the windows, like he can’t even walk by them. Then i think he will run away and hide from everyone but come back for food only at night. And after that I think that the rule of only having two children will go away and he can go to school and other stuff that he couldn’t do before.
I think that once the houses have been placed where the forest was, he will meet another shadow/ forbidden child. I predict it will be a girl, and he meets her outside one night. He had gone out to do a few chores, so he won’t be seen. Luke and this girl will finally have met someone who knows what it’s like to be a hidden unknown child.
I think that the goverments people will come to Lukes house and find luke.Also later in the book that luke will get kicked out and have to go live by him self in a diffrent forest.I think it will effect Luke because there is a better chance that the people that live there will find him.It also Lukes family might have to be more carefull of hiding Luke.
I think this will effect Luke because in there place you can only have 2 kids and they had three. So if they are cutting down the woods to build houses there, Luke could be seen and caught. I also think this is a great and intresting novel and cant wait to read more!
To Mr.Rankin I think that when all the trees are choped down and the new houses come luke will feel scared a little.But he will feel curious and not look out the window so much as he used to.I think that the goverment will threaten the family if luke dares to look out the window again and they catch him. I think that when all the new houses are built someone will see Luke.The person who saw Luke will tell the goverment.The goverment will go to Lukes house . They will find Luke and take him away.
I think that luke will have to hide in the attic because it is very hidden and only has. One window I think this because on the cover of the book the window in the attic is glowing. I also think this because on the bulletin board it has a picture of the attic. I think that eventually the goverment will figure out that Luke is there and there family will be forced out of the coutry.
I think the goverment will find him and take him away.Then he might get kicked out of his house and live on the sreets mabe.Or just alone because Lukes family will be in danger.Then Luke will find a way to go back home.
I think they will try to hide luke but it will be really hard to hide him because of the new house’s are being built, and they might get cought hidding luke,because he is a third child they are only allowed 2 childern per person.
Mr. Rankin: I am guessing that Luke is going to stay in side when they take the trees down. Luke is also not to be able to come out side ever and one day Luke goes outside and he gets caught by the government. The government will change the law and Luke and all the other boys and girls that are hidden if they evan are. They could live a normal life and go to school and be outside play outside and he can see also feel how recess is.

I think the gouverment will build the new houses and some one of the new neighbours will see luke out a window.The people that saw luke will tell the gouverment and the goverment will come to Lukes house.
they will come in and look every where but they finally find him.I think luke will escape and run off into the woods and his parents don`t know where he is and live in the woods until the gouverment has gone away.
I think that luke will try to destroy the law of population so he can get out in the world just like his brothers. Our hes going to find a room that is what he imagined would be the perfect world. were the goverment didnt exist and moves to live there. I think that luke will move away so he can live life the way it is supposed to.
I think next in the novel the forest will be taken down. And Luke will wonder out the kitchen window to be seen.
After being seen i think the person who saw Luke will keep it a secret because maybe they are a third child. Or have a sibling that is a third child.
I think that when they take the forest down they will someone will see Luke and tell the goverment and they will come in and seach the house and find Luke. Luke will not able to do anting because if he went by the window someone would find. he will not be able to eat in the kichchen because someone would see him. i can not wait to find out what happens in chapter 3
I think that when the goverment builds the houses that luke will have to be way more cautious when he hides. And when he is around the windows. It will also afect his familey because they will have to be more careful about not mentioning Luke. They will have to be more careful because there will be way more people around.
I think they will try to hide luke lik they did for the other 11 to 12 years, but I also think that they should let him to get alittle fresh air once and a while even if its opening a window or even building a tree house and letting him in there, eather way he should get alittle fresh air.also while he is hiding he should have something quietly to play with a ball, pet, a car or even a book to read …that’s what I think whats going to happen and what the novel might talk about.
In the next chapter i think the trees will get cut down. Then someone might see luke peek out the window even though he is not allowed to peek out the widow. That is what i think will happen in the next chapter. I think when the trees are cut down luke is going to look out the window again and someone will see him and tell the goverment because you are only allownd two children not three and luke is the third.
My prediction is that Luke will not be able to go to the barn go outside or look out the window. But I think he will anyway and somone will see him and eather be friends or tell the goverment.The goverment will take Luke away or Luke will hide.
I think that luke will go outside when his mother is not looking and he will get cot.Also when the forest gets taken down he will not be able to go out side anymore.And sooner or later the politition police will find out that his pearnts have 3 kids.Also he will be locked in his room when the forest gets taken down because people will be walking by there house.
All the houses will efect Luke because he wont be able to go outside verey much. People might see Luke. Also its already hard enough for Luke . Luke is going too have to hide a lot more. I think its going to hard for Luke watching his brothers go out side .
I think luke will find the window and be looking out is not telling his parents. when he is looking out the window and some one will see him. Then the people will call the govermant. Cant wait to chapter 3.
I think when the new house is built Luke will be upset because he can not peek out the kitchen window any more. If Luke does look out the window people can catch Luke.If they do catch Luke he can get in big trouble because the goverment only allows 2 children per house so Luke will have to get sent away to a different famly. Luke will probably be sad if he gets sent away to a different family. his family will hate that to probably…!
What i think is going to happen is Luke will not be aloud to go out side but he dose at night but Mark cachis him and gets him in trouble.The next morning at breakfast Mark tells on luke a whill later they herd knooking on the door luke ran to hide his mother hid all evidence that he was there.As the door opened it was the populatin police they sarted to look for the little boy that was seen last night trou the window.Sorry mam must have been a mastack have a good day the door closed every one sighed Luke its okay they left as he came out of hiding mother huged him and started to cry.

I think when the forest is taken down Luke will have to stay inside because the population police doesn’t want the people to have more than 2 kids; Luke was the 3rd one born. Also goverment people will be living in the house getting built.
Luke will have to hide more and not look out the kitchen side table windo Because people driving could see him.
